I Heart Wiz

photo cred: mike lambert
While I would love to just post this photo with the caption "I think this photo speaks for itself" but I think we all know I'm way too wordy, and too much of a music nerd to do that.

My (soon to be old) job definitely has its perks. Wiz Khalifa is one of my favorite of those perks. As previously stated, I'm not exactly a big "hip hop" girl, but I live and die for Wiz Khalifa. His music is so across the board genius. I love that he's not trying to reinvent the wheel with his rapping. He's not trying to cause controversy or change the entire rap game. He's just a happy, chill dude, who smokes a lot of weed, and likes to kick it with his friends. He just also happens to be stupid talented and one of the best rappers out there right now. But just because he's one doesn't mean he can't be the other. Wiz's music is the perfect soundtrack for Summer- driving, drinking on the porch, and passing around a J or two.

This week at work, the office was a flutter because Wiz was coming in for a plaque presentation. Let me tell you, the office was DECKED OUT. There was black & yellow everywhere I looked. Such a cute way to celebrate with some Pittsburgh pride. When Wiz walked in, the entire room errupted with applause and he looked genuinely surprised, grinning from ear to ear. It's so refreshing to see an artist who genuinely loves what he does, and loves everyone who he works with. Can I just say that he also maybe weighs 120lbs? He's SO skinny, and adorable, and cute, and happy, and wonderful and zomgz. I could gush over my love for Wiz for hours. At the presentation, he had some nice things to say to the whole label, and a few people from our side gave speeches, too. In the middle of the speech lovefest, Wiz did something that made me love him even more (and I didn't even know I could.) He lit up a blunt and blazed in the middle of the office. It was seriously the most badass thing I've ever seen. Like, who does that? Wiz Khalifa, that's who.

I have such respect for Wiz and the team around him. He is a prime example of great artist development truly paying off. Well that, and the world's most successful pot head.
