Weekend Snapshots {10/30/11}

Happy Halloweenie!! Strangely, because I did so much dressing up for the holiday this weekend, it feels like it's already over. I have zero energy left to put on another costume today. So I'm not going to. Boring, but true.

I had a Halloween packed weekend, that's for sure. I started off Friday by getting all gross and participating in the 2nd annual Adams Street Zombie Crawl. Basically, over 700 people dressed up like the living dead descend upon downtown Toledo to wreak havoc on the bars. It may have taken me a good 15 minutes to get a drink because it was so crowded, but I still had a blast. I've never had a gross costume before, mainly because it's really hard to compete with those girls in the super slutty costumes in the first place, and I don't need to make myself even less attractive in comparison. Come on. But now that I've given up my zombie virginity, I'm actually thinking of making this an annual tradition. Getting all ugly and weird was actually a lot of fun. People kept saying the faux gash on my chest looked like a bloody vagina. I tried to fight it, but it totes looked like a beat up vag. I embraced the gross. My friend Adrienne and I got all zombied out and headed downtown for a night of drinking and trying to figure out how zombies act... As it turns out, they're supposed to be sleepy and dazed, not growling, like I was in pretty much every photo this weekend. Ooops.

I woke up Saturday feeling like hell, obviously. I nursed myself back to health with Diet Coke and Lucky Charms. Once I was feeling up to moving off the couch, I "helped" my Mom cook a dish for a Halloween party we went to later. I meant to get a picture of the dish, but missed it :( I did manage to get a picture of the absurd cook book the recipe is from, though. Seriously, we've had this cook book for as long as I can remember. A lot of my favorite (and least favorite) dishes from childhood come straight out of "Aren't You Going To Taste It, Honey?" I know that woman's face like my own Grandmother's.

After some time in the kitchen, we got gussied up for a gala. THAT'S RIGHT, I'M FANCY!! Well, they called it a gala, but the attire was totally business casual. So it wasn't a gala so much as it was a banquet. Anyway, it was the Sylvania Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Gala, where one of our family friends was being inducted. The speeches were all really sweet and super heartfelt. But still, my favorite part was the golden cleat on our table. So fierce.

After that, I hurried up and went home to re-Zombie-fy again. This time, I went hard. I full on whited out my face (white face, if you will) and did really dramatic black eyes and black cheeks. I looked terrifying. I went around to a couple parties and bars, scaring everyone along the way. Getting all of that gear off at the end of the night definitely wasn't fun.

I have only two words for Sunday- Rachel Zoe. On a trip to Clothes Mentor, I found a legit Rachel Zoe coat. It's gorgeous, with huge oversized sleeves and a tie-waist. I want to live in it. Even though its an XXS, it fits perfectly. I'll post pictures on Wednesday! All I want to do is live in it at all times. It's so major. And cost close to nothing. I love a good bargain. I picked up some other fabulous pieces that I'm pretty stoked about, too. But nothing even comes close to my obsession with my new RZ coat. Love love love.

I wrapped up Sunday with a video chat date with my LA BFF, Caitlyn. It was an overall lovefest. I hate when I let too much time pass between our video dates. I need that catch up time with her to re-center me into my normal, semi-bitchy New York self. She knows that side of me unlike any other, and loves me all the more for it. We're basically the same person. So if I'm extra sassy this week, blame Cait :)
