Life, As of Late

This past week, our little vintage shop had its very first photoshoot! I can't possibly describe how happy that makes me. I'm so excited that everything is getting started, and we'll soon have our very own online shop! Getting the clothes was one thing, but styling the shoot, editing the photos and working out the logistics of the shop is quite another. I really think I could shop nonstop until the day I die, only taking pee & coffee breaks, and be totally happy. It's my happy place. I'm working on getting the other, more logistical side, to become my happy place, too. I want so much for this shop to do well so I can keep up my shopping addiction under the ruse that it's actually for work. Unhealthy addiction turned career... Sounds like something I would do. I don't actually think there's such a thing as a "professional beer drinker" or a "professional reality TV watcher," but I'm totally content with shopping. Blue Moon and Teen Mom can remain mere obsessions for now.

So if you need me, I'll be toiling away on the shop. Hoping to launch in the next couple weeks. Eye on the prize.

  1. I feel the same way. I love thrifting so much that's why I want to open my shop, to turn it into something more "job like". I need to buy some white sheets so I can do this. What lighting are you using? Umbrella lights? I'm totally lost on lighting. I figure it's all a "learn as you go" sort of thing.

  2. strangely enough we didn't use any special lighting. we shot it in our back sun room, with a couple standard lamps. i couldn't justify investing in fancy shmancy lighting just yet. we get so much light in that room as is, it ended up almost being too bright. after some editing, the photos are looking awesome. it is TOTALLY a learn as you go type thing. ideally i'd eventually like to have a nice photo backdrop, and professional lighting. but for now, i'm happy with our little faux-photoshoot-studio :)
