Two Awesome Things: Metal Day + 11:11 on 11/11/11
Personally, the stress of picking a wish to make at 11:11 on 11/11/11 was so stressful, I could barely handle my emotions. It's like, I'm supposed to pick the wish of all wishes? I mean, Prince William is already married, so really what else is there?! Luckily for my emotional stability, I didn't have to dwell on my wish too much because 11:11am on 11/11/11 was a high pressure moment for me this morning. At 11:11, tickets went on sale for the just announced Brand New show in Jersey City on New Years Eve. They announced that they would be playing three sets- the first- an acoustic set, the second- the entirety of their first record, and the third- all fan requests. Needless to say, I was basically having a heart attack at the time, terrified tickets would sell out. Well... they did, in 4 minutes. But we got tickets before they sold out. Hell yeah! I was seriously freaking out to the point where my hands were shaking. It's going to be a beyond epic New Years Eve. I feel like everyone puts so much pressure on the night and it never lives up to anyone's expectations. I can safely say that this New Years Eve is going to kick all other New Years Eve's asses, because nothing beats a night with Brand New and some of my best friends.
The funny thing I realized tonight at about 10:45 is that there is more than one 11:11 on 11/11/11. So I actually wished for something other than concert tickets tonight at 11:11. I wished for what any girl would wish for- a pony! Duh!!! JK, I didn't really. But I can't tell my wish, or it won't come true. That's how life works right? You wish for something and as long as you can keep your mouth shut about it, you get it... Right?!
The other reason why today is a pretty rad day is because it's National Metal Day! \m/\m/ For anyone (my Mom) that doesn't know what that little symbol means, click here. Now you know! See, Cheeky Cheeky can be educational! When you ask most people what kind of music they like, their answer is usually something like "I like everything. Except Metal and Country." I'm not a fan of that answer. Metal gets a bad rap. I grew up with it in the background of my life (dad & older brothers) and never really had any issues with Metal. It was just kind of always there, and I always liked it. It wasn't until I was older that I realized that I actually knew the words to a lot of Black Sabbath and Metallica songs. I'm definitely not one to keep up with current metal music, but I do love me some oldies. One of my BFFs is super into Metal, so she kind of got me back into the game over the past couple years. I have to say, there's nothing quite like a metal show. Partially because of the talented musicians, and partially because of the hilarious headbanging. So I'd like to wish you all a very happy Metal Day. I hope you headbanged in honor.
