Funny thing about my backyard at home- it floods like a pair of formerly-dorky Mom pants, that are now kind of fashionable again. That is to say, like.. a lot! It happens sporadically the Spring/Summer/Fall, only when it rains a ton, but the best is when it happens in the Winter. The weather here is kind of bizarre. One day it will be 40 degrees and raining, and the next day it's 25 degrees and totally freezing. This happens so frequently, it's hardly anything of note. But sometimes in the Winter, it will rain so much, we get our fake little pond for a day, which is then rapidly turned into a faux skating rink the following day. It encircles our little red shed, and creates something that's part pretty/part creepy. Even though the shed is adorable, the ice kind of makes our backyard look like it could be in a horror movie, right? The tagline to the movie would be something like "Whoooooo's hiding under the ice? The people of the dark pondddddd, who thirst for your bloooood...." Or something like that. It doesn't exactly sound like a box office smash, but whatever. So I don't have a future in horror movie screenplay writing. Good to know.
If I had any Michelle Kwan aspirations, this make-shift rink would most definitely come in handy. Unfortunately, my coordination skills on ice are more Urkel, less Kwan- more "Did I do thaaaat?!" less "And the Gold medal goes to...." So our little rink is just of a fun backyard addition that usually sticks around for a few days, until the weather inevitably warms up again. Still, it's cool while it lasts.
