My Very First Video Blog {Re: Facebook Defriending}

Facebook Defriending from Carmen Quinonez on Vimeo.

OH HI. Welcome to my very first video blog!! I hope you guys like it. It's pretty much just a long awkward rant. Mainly I'm shocked by how my voice sounds on video (kind of super annoying) and I'm contemplating using a fake accent next time and taking my voice up an octave or two. Like really, why do I sound like that? In my head I'm much more fab, much less nasal. Whatever, I guess I'm kind of stuck with it. I didn't end up editing the video because I'm still learning how and even though it's long, I'm happy with it how it is! This is me, in all of my awkward and weird glory! I think I may start doing more "cut to" stuff in my next one, but I wanted to try it out before posting it. Thus, you have one big long video of me ranting about people defriending me on Facebook. True story... it happens. God, I'm cool.

Oh, and I wanted to thank you all for your nice comments & tweets on my post from yesterday!! You guys all are so sweet. I'm doing fine and all of the insurance stuff is working out. Now I just have to go to court, look professional, and try not to cry. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Srsly though- anybody else ever get FB defriended? Shit cuts like a knife.

  1. hahah When I post ran statuses on Facebook I'll notice my friends list go down a few numbers. One time I went to go to this old friend of mine's Facebook page and we weren't friends. I was in shock as to why she would delete me because we used to be good friends. I actually messaged her and said something like "I don't usually do this but "I noticed you deleted me and I wanted to know why? Did I offend you somehow?"

She messaged back and was like "Oh no I was having a lot of drama going on so I deleted everybody but my immediate family"

    I said "Well, that's retarded."

Okay I didn't say it but I thought it.
    Loved your vlog! :)

  2. "I didn't kill your children!" hahaha! I've only had one experience with someone de-friending me and I'm not sure why, either. It bugged me but whatever, I think my statuses are too clever and witty for people to understand.
I guess now it'll say "-1" or however many people defriend you on the side of your Facebook. I'm not sure how true this it, but you know.

    1. i'm so with you- i just must be too witty and awesome for some people to get. whatevs.
this whole -1 thing makes me nervous though. i don't want to actually KNOW when someone defriends me! i want to find out while stalking and then bitch about it to all of my friends hahah

    1. Carmen you just crack me up, I love how honest you are in your posts!

I won't even lie, I am completely guilty of the occasional fb friend delete, but nearly 100% of the time it's because of rude or hateful things consistently posted as people's statuses... sometimes you've just got to eliminate the negativity from our lives. (And the annoying uuber conservative Republican...)

And I love a good cat video at any time :)

    2. Thanks lady!! I totally see why you would delete Facebook. There are times when I contemplate it, too. But I just love stalking way too much!! I'm creepy like that.

  5. I must admit I've been guilty of facebook de-friending, but in my defence it's if they constantly post poop. Example time - I deleted a family member (haha, even worse) because every post was regarding an illness (mainly poop related) or an argument with her husband, or even arguments with her daughter over facebook. You see someone really has to annoy me to be deleted, or have been mean to a family member of mine.
If it's unrelated like in your case I just don't get it. I even got blocked by my husbands Mum, and I'd never even added her. Our families are just that close. haha. The pay back was my husband retaliating by blocking her. x

    1. Oh that's totally excusable then!! I mean, I sort of want to friend that family member with the poop disease just to see all the drama... But I get it. Annoying FB users are the worst!!

  6. Hahahahahaha, this was brilliant. You are so crazy and weird and I love it.
You talk pretty much exactly the same as I do, not the accent, but the weird ramblings and changing topics and rantingness. I just love it. I feel we would get along very well in real life. :)
And yes, I agree. Even in real life. I don't care if you don't want to be my friend, just have the courage to tell me!!
Oh and I just added you on facebook. And if you accept, won't be de-friending you any time soon :P

    1. Thanks girl!! I'm glad I'm not the only one who meanders in my talking. I call it ADD talk.
Totally accepting the friend request. Let's mutually agree to not defriend :) hahah

  7. You're adorable. Also, I love that the first reason you gave for why you shouldn't have been defriended was "I didn't kill your children". Lol. Because really, if someone kills your children the FIRST thing you need to do is defriend their ass. ;)

  8. I don't think you sound nasally at all Carmen!

I've only deleted people who I've never spoken to since I added them (or they added me) or if I can't remember where I met you. I'm a HUGE facebook stalker so I don't delete people easily. I 9 times out of 10 will keep you on facebook so I can stalk you. So I'm going to go add you on facebook so we can stalk each other.

  9. Ehehehe, I'm definitely guilty of defriending. I haven't deleted anyone in a long time, but I used to delete entire batches of people because, at the time, I wasn't comfortable with the idea of people I didn't know very well seeing everything I was up to. It wasn't personal at all and I only deleted people I hadn't seen in well over a year and was never close to. Now I blog, though, so I got over that, haha!

Great vlog, though! :D You sounded great and cat videos are awesome. =^-.-^=

    1. Thanks lady!! I get that though- not wanting people to be able to see your every move on Facebook. I definitely try to keep mine on the surface level. At least with blogging you totally control the content. Who knows what embarrassing stuff my Dad is going to post about me on Facebook!? Kind of terrifying haha

  10. HAHAHAHa Dying....you were cracking me up the entire time. I agree with your "defriending" idea. You should have to tell the person why you're doing it. It would make it more interesting anyway.
