What I Wore {Pleats & Platforms}

Do you ever get dressed in the morning and just say to yourself "Damn, I'm good." or is that just me? I know it's braggy and gross, but when I put this outfit on, I was pretty stoked on my life. Like, so happy that someone could have punched me in the face and I probably would have given them a high five. Take that, face puncher! No one's getting me down when I'm in a happy outfit! I've never been able to pull off a long pleated skirt before, so this was a pretty big day for me, just like the first time I successfully cut my own bangs. (I was 9. My Mother, unfortunately, did not see my DIY hair trim as the masterpiece I did.) The weather has been unseasonably warm here in Ohio, so I took full advantage and brought out as much Spring flair to this outfit as I could manage in February. Short sleeves & visible tattoos- I could get used to this faux Winter. (Say hi to my little Kurt Cobain, whose birthday was a couple days ago. 45. So missed.)

Anyone else have issues styling long pleated skirts without looking like a sister wife? I've decided that (for me) the trick is platforms & belts. It adds a sense of normalcy to the outfit for me. Obnoxious accessories are pretty much my favorite thing ever.

  2. Looks great on you! I tried a pleated skirt a few weeks ago and I looked like an amish muffin. Not a great look. I think it all depends on what you wear with it. And I'm horrible at accessorizing.

    1. Thanks!! Aww no- I've had the same thing happen to me before. I always try them on and end up throwing the skirt across the room in a fit of rage. Try a tight top & high shoes. That should work!

  3. You can definitely pull off the long skirt look! It's hard to do, but I think it's all in the shoes :)

  7. You are SO so incredibly gorgeous! And that skirt is perfection on you. I've never been able to figure out maxis on me. I don't know why that is--I just can't seem to get them to work, but I think I need some major platforms in my life. Amazing!

  9. You look so pretty! I definitely think you have every right to be extremely happy in this outfit! The pleated skirt is perfect, but you're right it is hard to style sometimes, I think it's teh shoes that make all the different.

    Oh and P.S. love your glasses!

  10. Eep! You look so pretty! <3 That outfit compliments you really well!

    And I know just what you mean about looking in the mirror and just thinking "I look great!" I have a friend who once said "I look so good I make myself jealous" - at least, that's what his sister told me. I totally feel like that some days. :D
