Girls {Why I Should BE Lena Dunham}

You know that part of you that makes you able to be happy for someone else's success? Yeah, I think I was probably just born without that. Okay, not really. I can be really happy for my parents when they get a raise at work or something. I'm not the devil, ya know? But this Lena Dunham character has my life, and I'd like her to please stop. I don't know if she's aware of it, but she is the physical embodiment of everything I want to do and be for the rest of my life. For those of you who are really stupid and aren't already obsessed with Lena Dunham, allow me to explain her awesomeness (and my would-be, should-be awesomeness.) Homegirl wrote, directed and starred in Tiny Furniture in 2010, a comedy that takes place in New York City (my love) and basically explains to everyone who isn't a 22-year-old college educated girl, what it's like to be just that. Brilliant. If you haven't seen the movie yet- your life isn't really worth living anymore. Yes, I actually believe things like that. Who am I? It's streaming on Netflix, so I don't know what you're waiting for, other than my glowing endorsement of the movie.

After I saw Tiny Furniture, I became literally obsessed with Lena Dunham. I wanted to befriend her, and maybe even live inside her head. I spent days and nights pining after this 20-something kindred spirit of mine. (Only obvious difference being that she's turned this confusing time into an amazing career for herself. But other than that little detail, we're like twinsies, RIGHT?!) Anyway, I've basically been dicking around, waiting for another Lena Dunham masterpiece. All that dicking was worth it, because she's coming out with something even better than a movie- A TV SHOW! That means hours of Lena Dunham genius. Thank you, Lord- I don't know how much you had to do with any of this, but thank you anyway.

Lena Dunham's new show, Girls,  is basically everything I've ever wanted to write in my life. Set in New York (again, my love) the show revolves around Lena's character and her friends, who are just as insanely awkward, selfish and horrible at making decisions as the rest of us! Oh, and I think all the girls on the show have a pattern of sleeping with horrible dudes. Judging by the two trailers that have been released, I am going to live and die for this show. It just feels so authentic. I thoroughly enjoy that the main character isn't twelve pounds, and her love interests look like normal dudes. I don't really need to watch another portrayal of some gorgeous guy falling in love with Rachel McAdams. Like, no duh- we get it. I'd fall in love with her, too... SHE' RACHEL MCADAMS! And really, really, really- thank you Lord (again, not sure that you actually had anything to do with this) for FINALLY putting a show on TV that depicts what it's really like to be broke living in New York City. (Well, a show that isn't Intervention.) It's not all fabulous apartments, lavish gallery openings, and designer clothes. It is a lot of peanut butter sandwiches, basement bars, and PBR, that's for damn sure. Also, NBD, but Judd Apatow is executive producing the show, too. Not like he's awesome or anything.

I'm just really wondering at this point if Lena Dunham knows she's living my life & writing about it, too. Can someone please let her know?
