It's Monday, which means Spring Break is officially over. Color me depressed. I was loving the whole Spring Break vibe- sleeping in, watching Grey's Anatomy, being extremely lazy. I guess it's time to get back to normal life though, right? Life can't be a permanent vacation. (BUT WHAT IF IT COULD?! Can someone do some research on this in a lab somewhere?! I think it involves winning the lottery, but I'm not positive.)
I had a wonderful weekend- super eventful. Saturday we got a visit from my old foster sisters, who are getting bigger by the second. We took them to see The Lorax in 3D, which was hilarious. Having never seen a move in 3D before, their minds were BLOWN by the notion of things popping off the screen at them. We let Mariah try to put on her glasses by herself, and what we got was upside down and crooked. SO cute. The movie was really really really good! I thought I was going to be bored but it was actually entertaining and had a really positive message for the kiddos. After the movie, I packed an overnight bag and drove 3 hrs from Toledo to Columbus to see Kevin Devine and The Front Bottoms with my friend Amanda. The drive itself wasn't bad at all- country roads and singing along to my Spotify. I love drives like that so much. I didn't get lost until I actually got into Columbus, so I was pretty proud of myself. The show was AMAZING. I couldn't possibly rave enough. I've never seen The Front Bottoms before, but I've been dying to for months. They're basically a punk band with an acoustic guitar and biting lyrics. All of their songs sound happy, but their lyrics are all about break ups and killing their Dad. Seriously. So warped- I love it. I thought they might be a little weird to see live, but they blew me away. I was SO impressed. Singing along with Amanda while everyone looked at us like we were totally crazy was srsly so much fun. I've seen Kevin Devine probably 8 times before, and I'm 100% in love with him. If you haven't heard of him, he's an alternative singer/songwriter, and basically perfection. This show was really great- I just wish he would have played more old songs. But that's always the case, no? Oh, and I spotted some misplaced bathroom graffiti and I couldn't help but wonder who would have their moment of Jesus clarity in a bathroom stall at The Basement in Columbus, Ohio. "Well, I was hammered at this show in Columbus this one time. And I read this graffiti while I was vomiting in the bathroom that said 'Jesus Cares' and I realized- HE DOES! I committed my life to Jesus at that moment." Unlikely story.
Sunday morning I woke up, felt like I was dying, and drove the three hours back to Toledo. By the end of the drive, I think I was maybe going a little crazy. That much time left to my own devices in a car is not healthy for me. I started talking to myself and yelling at the radio. I'm probably insane. The rest of the day I mellowed out, got some work done & watched Friday Night Lights on Netflix. Seriously- why do I do this to myself?! I'm not going to be able to stop until I get to the end. Something about Tim Riggins, man. I'm also partial to Matt. But let's get real, we all know the true star of the show is Landry. Don't even front. Also, one of my BFFs, Amelita, had a mini-contest to choose her cover photo on her Facebook. I (of course) posted an old school picture of Screech Powers from Saved By The Bell, fingers crossed that I would win. AND I DID! I'm just so happy. It's like ALL of my dreams are coming true. I want to get as many people as possible to make Screech their Facebook cover photo. It's just the most ridiculous thing in the world. DO IT.
Okay, off to do my reading for class this afternoon. I DON'T WANNA GO BACK TO SCHOOL, MOM!!!
