I'm Loving {5/24/12}

Thursday night & I realized I didn't blog today. Ooops! I had a day full of working, thrifting, shipping out packages for the shop & a long walk around the park. Very busy, but kicking off the summer is making me tres happy. I'm so excited to spend one last summer in Ohio before heading out to LA. I'm going to soak up all the midwestern goodness as much as possible. That means Cedar Point, Ann Arbor, Mackinaw Island, Maumee Bay, The Quarry & bonfires with friends. I know it's going to be REALLY hard to leave, so I want to spend as much time as possible hanging with friends and family for the next few months. It's going to be a bittersweet summer, for sure. ANYWAY. Enough about me. Here is a little collection of things I'm loving on the internet & in real life this week:

First and foremost, my main obsession this week has been my new Canon Rebel! LOVE!! Isn't he awesome?! I love him so much, I want to cradle him in my arms as I fall asleep. Srsly. I'm a freak, but I'm okay with that. I can't wait to post TONS more photos on this little ole blog of mine. More outfit posts, more life adventures and probably more photos of my feet. (Those are my favorite to take. It's kind of an obsession. NBD.) Anyone else have a Canon Rebel? Any tips for a newb?! GAHHH! I just love him so much. Oh! I also have to name him. I think I need to come up with something a little more creative than Cammy the Camera. (I already have Lappy the Laptop.) Also- is he maybe a SHE? Maybe I gender stereotyped him too soon!! I mean, I already call him my boyfriend so idk. WHAT IS HE?! SO MANY DECISIONS!!!!

Um, LE SWOON. This wall decorated with silk flowers on Mr. Kate is pretty much my decorating dream come true. I've been trying to think of ways to spruce up my apartment in LA after I move without painting the walls & I think this might just be it. Cheap and easily removable. After the debacle that was moving out of my NYC studio, I never ever ever want to paint an entire apartment from yellow to white again. Therefore- faux wallpaper/silk flowers!

Okay, so I may or may not have a thing for flowers lately. I just want to decorate my life with them. Obviously I have summer on the brain. I've been swooning over this print from The Wheatfield on Etsy. If I'm being honest, I pretty much love all of her prints. I could wallpaper my life with them and be completely happy. So pretty.

Hi, I want to live in you. "Effortless Allure Dress in Gold" from ModCloth is total perfection. First of all- that's my color. That mustardy yellow color is my JAM. So much so that I even painted a wall in my old apartment that color. (Again, it was a bitch to paint over when I moved out.) Seriously though, this dress is the perfect mix of vintage & 2012. I need to have an emergency ModCloth purchasing fund. Is it Christmas yet?

I think we could all learn a lesson or two from Topanga Lawrence. Being eccentric & weird is fun. And sometimes being yourself means drawing on your face with lipstick. Because... why not? She's probably one of my favorite TV characters ever, especially in the early years. I miss 90s TV like a mofo. Boy Meets World, Clarissa Explains It All, Ren & Stimpy, My So Called Life- I could go on for days. I'm a 90s TV junkie.

Pen & Ink, a new Tumblr site, is completely genius. It tells the stories behind people's tattoos through illustrations and handwritten stories. So beautiful. I think most of mine would be something like "I was young and thought I was really cool. Now I'm not quite as young, but still think I'm really cool. So, yeah." This reminds me that I need to post the next edition of "All Tatted Up" soon! Now that I have my new Canon, I definitely have motivation to do another tattoo photo shoot.

These nachos from Pineapple Lily's Melissa have my mouth majorly watering. So delicious & completely vegetarian! And I have MAJOR respect for anyone who makes their own tortilla chips. That's so the way to go. A little extra work, but defs worth it. I'm totally going to make a batch (or 34) of these this holiday weekend.

Love love love Robert Francis. His new record, Strangers In The First Place, just came out. I was lucky enough to work with Robert when I was living in New York. Amazing human creating amazing music. This record is beautiful from start to finish. Really, all of his records are. Listen, please. And love. He is truly one of my favorite artists & one of the most talented artists I've ever seen live. {The first time I saw him, I cried. Like a damn baby. This was the song that did me in.}

Real life loves {waking up early to catch up on life; the love of my life, Phillip Phillips, winning American Idol; giving myself a break- sometimes it's okay to not be perfect; putting my hair up on top of my head at the end of a long day; amazing estate sales with lots of vintage goodness; nights spent hanging at home; sweet potato fries; late night chats with long distance friends; car dance parties; planning roadtrips with my future roomie; super sweet emails from readers; time spent with some of my favorite little humans; hang sessions with my puppy; suns-out-guns-out weather.}

  2. You got a camera! (I totally saw this on Instragram earlier) I named my camera, Ria because my boyfriend started calling her Camaria and that was just too close to camera and I don't like the name Maria.
    Also, you just reminded me THAT I NEED TO GO TO CEDAR POINT WHILE I'M IN OHIO!

  8. I love that part of Boy Meets World! I have the Canon Rebel Xsi and I love it. Nothing too fancy but good enough for me. I still don't know what half of the buttons are for. I call them "bright button", "blurry button", and "ghost face" button just to name a few.
