Guess who has two thumbs, likes cursing like a sailor and is getting in the fashion blogging game? This bitch. Now that I have my new Canon Rebel, I'm feeling MUCH more inspired to take outfit photos. I felt like a major dork at first, but I think I'll be able to get into the swing of it again. I LOVE getting dressed in the morning & picking out lots of crazy outfits. It's legit my favorite part of my day. If I could stay in my room, blasting music and putting together outfits all day, I'd be a happy camper for sure. Now I just have to get used to posing in front of the camera. Also, I had no idea what to do with my face or my hands. I felt like Ricky Bobby pretty much the whole time. I took these photos in my backyard, in front of the shed & in front of the woods behind our house. Pretty, eh? The Midwest has its perks.

I don't think I'll ever get sick of taking these feet photos. I've been taking them since I was a teenager, as I think a lot of people have. I just think they're so cute! Sparkly shoes, plus our stone walkway, and lots of cotton coming off the trees in buckets. Looks like summer to me.
I'm still getting used to my new boyfriend, so bear with me. He's a tricky little fucker. I haven't quite mastered the art of focusing, setting the self timer & hopping into the frame with it still in focus. Anyone have any advice on that front? I'm definitely spending the next month or two voraciously reading tips and tricks for my new Canon. Practice, practice, practice. I'm in love.
PS- Can you spy my inner arm tattoo? To say I love Kurt Cobain would be the world's greatest understatement. Totally obsessed. Expect a tattoo feature soon!

ReplyDeleteThanks girlllll! The woman who did it is Virginia Elwood. I'm kind of obsessed with her.

DeleteIf it doesn't work, I'm totally blaming you.
JK... kind of ;)
Very cute dress :D New cameras are exciting! I know a tripod & remote combo makes it easier for self portraits.
ReplyDeleteIt's mostly trial and error, put something (chair, maybe?) in the way to focus on that and then step in it's place.
The remote suggestion is one I've gotten a few times. I think I'm finally going to do it. Might as well, right?
DeleteThanks for the tips!
Welcome to the dark side. Super cute outfit! I'm forever jealous of your dreamy Narnia-land backyard, what the heck is this. I have to go be paranoid about my elderly neighbors seeing me taking pictures now...
ReplyDeleteHah thank you! I love my backyard too! When I move I'm going to have to do the same thing, undoubtedly. Taking advantage of the private backyard for now :)
DeleteWoot, I'm excited for your tat feature! I need to do one relatively soon myself.

Love your outfit! The best way to get it to focus right is to set something in the exact spot you will be standing, focus on it when you are behind the camera, then removing whatever item was holding your place when you jump in the picture. Good luck with your new camera!
ReplyDeleteSMART!!! I'm definitely going to try that out. Thanks for the tip, lovey!
