Fave Summer Accessory: Vintage Scarves

Vintage scarves have quickly become my favorite summer accessory. As a girl with bangs who doesn't always have time to do her hair in the morning, scarves are my saving grace. They make even the dirtiest of hair look hippie chic. When it's a million degrees outside with humidity so intense it feels like you're damp the second you walk out the door, a scarf is sometimes the only way to look even halfway decent. Even though they look hella cute, they also tame down my sometimes wild beast of a mane, and cover up for my laziness when I don't feel like washing my hair. Doesn't get any better than that!

If you're feeling anything like me this summer, you should stock up on vintage scarves and add a little hippie dippy flair into your wardrobe. That way, when people see you out in public, they'll think "Oh, that girl looks like she smokes a ton of weed... But also like she's having an awesome hair day!" It's a trade off, my friends. Embrace your inner hippie and get into the vintage scarf game. A couple trips to Goodwill and you'll be stocked up for the summer- they always have TONS of vintage scarves. Or you could get all fancy and buy new scarves from a real deal store, but you'll probably end up over-paying and landing something less cute than if you had gone the vintage route. Hippies don't pay full price! {I just made that up, but it seems right. No?} There are so many different ways to wear them- bangs down, bangs back, hair up, hair down, etc. Get creative while you combat the summer heat!

I snapped these pictures before heading off to Bunbury a couple weekends ago. I ended up switching into homemade jorts because it seemed more appropriate for a music festival, and my newfound hippie-ness. But you get the idea.

  11. Really pretty. Me and scarves have a love/hate relationship. I love them but my hair just will not work well with them.

  14. I found a great site it shows how to turn your scarves into tops. Go to http://thescarfboutique.co.uk/pages/How-to-tie-a-scarf.html and look at the top one. This definitely works. I used a 90 x 90 cms scarf. Looks amazing and means all those scarves I have now turn into designer tops which no one else wears. You can also with a larger scarf double it up to wrap around the front. Looks great on its own or with a jacket and feels amazing to wear. Hope this helps
