2012 Favorites: Movies

So many amazing movies came out this year. Limiting this list to five was pretty tough. And I left This Is 40 and Les Miserables off the list because I haven't even seen them yet, but I'm pretty sure they'd be on this list if I had. {Judd Apatow is a God in my book. And musical theater is like crack to me.} Can't wait to see both of those movies at Christmas!

Here are my favorites of 2012:

Honorable Mentions:
Perks of Being A Wallflower
Ted
Breaking Dawn Part 2 {Don't make fun. It was good.}
The Hunger Games
Silver Linings Playbook
Paranormal Activity 4
Moonrise Kingdom

5. Celeste and Jesse Forever- Rashida Jones is my dream girl. {Except for in The Office. Karen sucked.} She wrote and starred in this indie rom com. Even though it was definitely sad, it was still overwhelmingly funny and really showed the complicated reality of adult relationships.

4. 21 Jump Street- Okay, I'm not kidding- I loved this movie so much. Like, to the point that after seeing in the theater, I have rented it from Red Box and kept the DVD for a week and watched it 3 more times. I'm obsessed. Channing Tatum- hot, and surprisingly LOL. Jonah Hill- LOL, and surprisingly hot. Amazing combo.

3. Safety Not Guaranteed- Mark Duplass, Aubrey Plaza, Jake Johnson & time travel. What more could you want in a movie? Quirky humor & oddly romantic. Someone buy me this DVD for Christmas, plz.

2. Argo- Ben Affleck is back and better than ever. He better win some awards and stuff for this movie. Also, the fact that I loved this movie so much makes me feel like I have good taste in movies. Right?

1. Beasts of the Southern Wild- This movie might actually be on my list of favorite movies ever. I have literally never cried that hard in a movie before- and I really enjoyed it. Sometimes I think sad movies get an unnecessarily bad rap. This is such a touching story about a little girl and her dad. I can't even get into it. I'll seriously start crying. When I was Googling images for this post, as soon as I saw pictures from this movie... I started tearing up. I'm a total freak.

What are some of your favorite movies of 2012?

xoxo! Carmen

  1. Oh my gosh, I'm so behind! I need to see all of your top five! I've only seen Moonrise Kingdom and...yep, that's the only one so far. *shame*

I love this list, and am definitely going to catch up! :)

  2. I really enjoyed the 5 Year engagement, Safety not guaranteed, & Moonrise Kingdom! I didn't get to the movies as much as I wanted to this year, but the second ARGO comes out on dvd or on demand I definitely want to check it out!!

  3. Eeep, I need to see pretty much all of these...even the honorable mentions! For living with a bunch of film majors, I hardly ever seem to see movies. Have you seen Ruby Sparks? That's a new favorite of mine (Paul Dano...mmm) and, judging from this list, you might like it! :]

  4. Wow. I'm obsessed with movies so I cannot believe I saw none on your top 5 list. At least I saw all the honorable mentions haha But your #1 and #5 seem like they'd become new favorites so I'll have to check those out!
