2012 Favorites: Song Discovery of the Year

Well, since we're now getting into December, I thought I'd start sharing some of my 2012 favorites. I'm an obsessive list maker, so this is another way I like to put my list loving to good use. Join me in my insanity, won't you? I want to kick off this little 2012 Favorites blog feature with my favorite song discovery of the year. Not to be confused with my favorite song of 2012, which would be my favorite song that was actually released in 2012. This category is my favorite song that I discovered in 2012, but was not released this year. I know, it's a little weird. But I like to get creative with my "Favorites" categories. It keeps it fun!

This song- "Baby" by Donnie & Joe Emerson is the clear winner in this category. I first heard the song during the movie Celeste & Jesse Forever and instantly became obsessed. The song first came out in 1979 and took literally 30 years to become a hit. Barely anyone had even heard of it until 2008 when a blogger found Donnie & Joe's record in Missoula, Montana and wrote about it. There's a really interesting story behind the song and Donnie & Joe Emerson, which you can read about on NPR. If I ever get married, this song will most definitely be played at my wedding. I just love how earnest and sweet it is. It makes me want to do some serious 8th grade style swaying in the middle of the cafeteria with the cutest boy in class.

PS- Thank you to Liz for inspiring the design behind this post! I hate posting boring videos with ugly graphics & she came up with the perfect solution on her blog. Love it. Stole it. Using it forever <3
