Brunch / The Mercantile

More so than looking for the perfect job, the perfect boyfriend or the perfect apartment, aren't we all really just in search of the perfect brunch spot? It really is the never-ending quest of our generation. So much so that I'm actually surprised Lena Dunham hasn't devoted an entire episode of Girls to this epic dilemma. Is it too much to ask for a mimosa that's three parts champagne to one part orange juice? That's all anyone really wants!

My quest for delicious brunch spots in LA lead me to The Mercantile this past Sunday. I first read about this Hollywood spot on one of my favorite LA blogs, Designlovefest. The writing of Bri Emery, the creator of Designlovefest, has sort of become my unofficial guide to LA ever since I moved here back in September. She has pretty stellar taste. When I saw her photos at The Mercantile a couple weeks ago, I immediately added the brunch spot to my list of places to try. My roommate Caitlyn and I stopped in for brunch this past Sunday in between errands. Happy to report: it was absolutely amazing. From the vibe, to the location & the food itself, I'm absolutely smitten with The Mercantile. It's my new favorite brunch place in LA, especially because the prices are so reasonable. Caitlyn even said "This is literally the best toast I've ever tasted." I couldn't agree more. I mean, even their toast is delicious and fancy. As for the potatoes, eggs and fruit bowl- PERFECTION. Their fruit bowl didn't even have any filler fruit- it was all the high quality yummy stuff. Two thumbs way up.

I can't wait to go back again soon. If you're in the LA area, definitely check it out. It's just down the street from Amoeba, so it's the perfect brunch spot during an afternoon of record shopping.

  1. toast is definitely how I judge a breakfast - if it's cold or not toasted enough, I'm not happy. toast is where it's at.

  2. mmm looks so delicious! I can't explain to you how much I love mimosas...not even of fully legal drinking age yet but I just guzzle them whenever I'm at my parent's house. SO GOOD. (and the three to one ratio...totally on point.) Lovely brunch place! :]

  4. Noms! That place looks delicious. Brunch might be, well it is, my favorite meal. I wish I had time for it everyday. Once a week isn't quite enough.
