Mixtape Monday v5

Big news on this Monday morning- Fall Out Boy is getting back together!! Okay, so I know more than half of you are rolling your eyes right now, but I can't hide my adoration of FOB. I can still remember the first time I heard their music- it was embedded in someone's Myspace page (of course.) I immediately became obsessed with Take This To Your Grave. I don't know what it is- but for me, and I'm sure a lot of you around my same age, Fall Out Boy will always be one of the defining bands of my youth. And don't even get me started on my epic crush on Pete Wentz... Oy. I know they're not for everyone, but for a certain subset of suburban, allegedly "misunderstood" kids, Fall Out Boy, Taking Back Sunday, Brand New, The Starting Line and a few other bands during that time were heavily influential on our lives. Nothing quite like driving around with the windows down, screaming cheesy pop/punk lyrics with a group of your best friends. For me, even now, listening to some of my favorite bands from back then still makes me feel like a 16-year-old kid, dying to get out of her small town.

Anyway, as much as I wish I could be cool 24/7 and only listen to super cool hipster bands, such is not the case. Sometimes, especially on days like today, I like to timewarp back to high school and enjoy some classic pop/punk music. Who's with me?

1. Fall Out Boy / Grand Theft Autumn/Where Is Your Boy
2. Paramore / Crushcrushcrush

  1. I can't agree more. I will ALWAYS love FOB. I remember seeing them in concert with Blink 182 and I knew every single song in their set. Just heavenly. ;) Best playlist ever.

  3. FINALLY someone who shares my excitement. I've been crying on and off all day in excitement (including breaking out into tears in an elevator with six boys who were all heading to class with me...awkward much?) This playlist is honestly what I listen to on a regular basis, but also connects me to those "difficult years" in middle/high school when music was really all I had. Such a great thing to realize!!! (And you are buying a ticket to their tour, right? right?)
